Venezuela

Located north of Venezuela in the warm waters of the Caribbean. The island has an area of 1071 km2 with 315 km of coastline and beautiful beaches. Margarita Island and the smaller islands of Coche and Cubagua are all outside the hurricane belt and together form the Nueva Esparta state of Venezuela.

Annual average temperatures range from 25c to 30c. The climate varies throughout the islandas the terrain changes from valleys to hills and mountains covered by vegetation. The vegetation varies from dry to humid forests respectively from the base of the mountains to the apices, where clouds release moisture accumulated from the Caribbean sea. The climate is cooled by a constant breeze throughout the year, which as a consequence provides for excellent sailing and surfing.

Isla Margarita is a duty free island, which has all the facilities of modern living you may require. There are huge shopping malls with brand names familiar to most of us, and deserted beaches or forests to contrast. You can now get direct flights from the UK to the island airport, or go via Caracas in Venezuela with a short hop. 

The local language is Spanish, but many locals now speak a little English in the popular areas. There are many activities to enjoy including scuba diving, snorkeling, 4 wheel safari, swimming with dolphins.

The cost of living is extreemly low, and local goods and services are cheap. Food and drinks can be enjoyed at a fraction of the cost of other Caribbean destinations. This is an emerging economy, but the infrastructure and facilities are already in place.
